First-time buyers Aimee and Jack relocated from Oxfordshire to Gleeson’s Firbeck Fields development. Moving from a 1 bedroom rented flat, their goal was to secure a larger property, improve the quality of life, and access more affordable housing, all while remaining within close proximity to Sheffield.

“Both Aimee and I are first-time buyers who relocated from Oxfordshire, where we rented a 1 bedroom flat. We made the move in order to afford a larger size property, enjoy a better quality of life and just have a fresh start (as we’ve both grown up and each lived in a small town since birth)! We also know Sheffield quite well and wanted to be within a 30-minute drive of the City. The upgrade in size from our previous property has been incredible, and for practically the same price per month.”

Affordability was a primary consideration in their decision. “Affordability was the key factor for us, as property prices in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire are much better than in Oxfordshire.” The couple chose Worksop for its accessibility to local amenities and its rural-city balance.

 

With the support of Gleeson’s 5% deposit contribution and the Own New scheme, they purchased a 3 bedroom Lisburn house type. “We chose the 3 bedroom Lisburn because of its spacious kitchen and garden, and the third bedroom serves as a perfect home office.”

The couple made several upgrades to personalise their home, including landscaping, flooring, and kitchen enhancements. “The property is very energy efficient and well insulated, resulting in much lower gas and electric bills compared to our previous rented property.”

They praised the efficiency of the homebuying process. “The journey of buying our new home was extremely efficient and exciting. From reservation to completion, it took just 47 days”

Now settled, the couple enjoys their surroundings. “The community feel at Firbeck Fields is very friendly, with great local walks, especially in the country park. We love our home and would definitely consider buying a second home with Gleeson in the future.”
