Jayne and Karl were looking to make their final move and downsize from their 4 bedroom home after their son married and purchased his own place. We spoke to the couple to find out more about their journey!
“We hope this is our last move,” Jayne and Karl shared. “We are in our 60s and have downsized from a larger 4 bedroom home. After 45 years of marriage, we are looking forward to settling into our new home and hoping to see a bit more of the world as we love travelling!”
The couple chose the 3 bedroom semi-detached Glin because they loved the large kitchen diner space and the southwest-facing rear garden. They also saw great value for money in this home. Since moving in, they have found their energy bills to be affordable, thanks to the home’s excellent insulation, which means they use the heating much less than before.
“The process of buying our home was very straightforward, pain-free, and quick, thanks to Deborah in the sales office and the team on site,” they said. “We encountered a few small snags after moving in, all of which were solved quickly and efficiently by Lee, the Site Manager, and his team.”
Moving into a Gleeson home has given Jayne and Karl a new project to take into their retirement. Their previous house was completely improved to their taste, including the garden, whereas this new home offers a blank canvas to build upon and make their own.
Price, location, and timing were all important factors for Jayne and Karl when looking to move. The size of the rooms was ideal for two people, and they loved the location at the back of a large estate, backing onto a cricket field. “It feels more like a village location, which is perfect for us,” they explained. “The timing was right as we were young enough to move relatively easily but ready to downsize and start the next phase of our lives, travelling the world.”
Their advice to anyone looking to buy a new build is to ensure everything is in working order and to report any defects to Gleeson, who will deal with them promptly. They also recommend checking and measuring to make sure your furniture fits before moving. “We had a lot of furniture to pass on to the family,” they noted.
Jayne and Karl hope this is their last home, as they have no need to move in the future. “Unless we win the lottery,” they joked, “then we might buy another Gleeson home!”
