Megan and Jordan’s story

Megan and Jordan

After leaving their family homes and excited to begin a new chapter together, Megan and Jordan took the leap into homeownership at one of our sought-after developments in County Durham. Settling into their new Gleeson home, the couple are thrilled to finally have a place to call their own and are grateful for the opportunity to build their future together in such a beautiful location.

We spoke to the couple about their journey with Gleeson and here’s what they had to say.

“We were both living with our parents before moving into our home and couldn’t wait to start the next stage of our lives together. We were both so ready for this change and can’t wait to start creating milestone memories together.

"We wanted to stay close to Spennymoor, but initially hadn’t considered a new build. When we saw Middlestone Meadows and drove into the development, we both felt a warm, homely feeling about it. The street was so well-kept, and the houses looked really nice.

"We booked an appointment with Jackie in the sales team and looked at the different house styles. After that we knew there wasn’t going to be another option, we were set on living on this development! The first Gleeson home we saw was a Kilkenny but the reason we chose a Renmore was because we could get from the front door to the kitchen and garden without going through the living room, which was a key factor for us. We also chose the Renmore as we loved how the house looked from the front – plus we both wanted a detached home with a garage and this house type ticked all our boxes!

"We didn’t want to get into the rent trap and instead wanted to get straight onto the property ladder to invest in ourselves, and we are so glad we did! The process of buying our first home together has been the most exciting, easy, and happy experience.

"We saw and fell in love with our house over six months before it was released. Although that part of the process was slightly stressful because the house wasn’t ours, it was still exciting and helpful as it gave us time to visit a few different sites to look around the show homes and from doing that we were certain on the extras we wanted. We spent just over £12,000 on extras so our house was ready for us to be able to move in on the day we got the keys.

"We were also in touch with Core Legal in that time and got our mortgage in principle ready for the release. When we found out our house had been released for sale, we rushed to see Jackie who went through the reservation with us and submitted our extras. We finally put the red dot on our house in the sales office! Even being able to stick the red sticker on our plot was such a lovely experience.

"The whole process was so easy despite being first-time buyers, we were guided through every step. If the solicitors or mortgage advisors needed anything from us, they would send an email or call us, and all the steps were easy to follow.

"Once contracts were exchanged, we just had to watch our house get built (we basically stalked our home every other night!). We went shopping for our ‘move-in essentials’ because the day we got the keys was the day we wanted to move in.

"We have had the best experience and couldn’t be happier with our home. We can’t wait to start making so many more memories in our lovely home."
